ACTION ALERT: Give your Input on Minnesota and Michigan Wolf Plans

Wolves of Michigan and Minnesota Need Your Voice!

The Michigan DNR is requesting public input on a draft of the state’s wolf management plan. The plan was created in 2008 and last updated in 2015, so this is a unique opportunity for advocates to make their voices heard. We encourage anyone with connections in the region to contact partners who might be interested in commenting. The questionnaire currently appears to allow anyone to submit and does not restrict based on geographic location.

Submissions for the Michigan Wolf Plan are open until Thursday, August 4th.

Because the survey is cumbersome, the guides provided below are there to help make this comment process easier. The suggested responses can be edited to your own words. Tell them you are dissatisfied with any wolf killing for recreation and/or research. We request that wolf supporters fill out the DNR’s survey because they will quote these results for years!

The Minnesota DNR is also welcoming comments on a draft of Minnesota’s updated wolf management plan which will guide the state’s approach to wolf conservation once finalized later this year.

This draft plan contains a possible wolf trophy hunting and trapping season. We oppose any wolf hunt. We also oppose the possibility of research that kills wolves to save moose. Out of state residents are welcome to comment!

Submissions for the Minnesota Wolf Plan are open until Monday, August 8th.

  1. The wolves are only doing what is natural. They are not killing livestock as many believe. The wolf population is at it’s lowest and must be saved from killing.
