What We’ve Accomplished This Year

It hasn’t always been easy, but 2022 has been another remarkable year in our fight to advocate for wolves and other imperiled wildlife of Wisconsin and the Great Lakes region. There will always be more work ahead, but for now, enjoy reading through a few of our wins from the last year and the highlights around the important issues that pushed us towards victory.

Wolves of Michigan and Minnesota need your voice! The DNR is requesting public input on a draft of each state's wolf management plans. Because the surveys are cumbersome, we have provided guides to help make this comment process easier. The deadlines are fast approaching....take action TODAY!

PRESS RELEASE: WISCONSIN DNR DELAYS WOLF MANAGEMENT PLAN

Today, the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources said that they have no known date at this time for bringing forward the new wolf management plan, which still needs to be updated from the current 1999 antiquated plan.

STATE JUDGE ISSUES “DRAMATIC DECISION” IN STRIKING DOWN WISCONSIN WOLF HUNT

In the biggest news so far for wolf protection in the United States in 2021, a court in Wisconsin issued an injunction today requiring the Wisconsin DNR to set the quota at zero wolves for the upcoming wolf trophy hunt scheduled to start November 6th. The decision could spare hundreds of wolves targeted for killing.

Coalition of Animal Welfare, Conservation, and a Native American Tribe Seeks Reinstatement of Federal Wolf Protections

In collaboration with other wildlife advocacy organizations and the Tribes of the Great Lakes, we have filed an amicus brief on behalf of the wolves in Wisconsin to restore the legal protections critical to their survival.  We will not let another slaughter like we witnessed in February occur again without a fight.
